ANNOUNCEMENT:

Hello fellow neurosparkly folk, it is with a heavy heart I share with you that our founder, Sandy Slade, passed away on July 20th in the company of his family. Sandy was diagnosed with Stage IV esophageal cancer in March of this year at the age of 37.

Sandy was an amazing person. Compassionate and giving to a fault, he created ADHD PEI whole cloth from his own discovery that there were very few support systems for people on the island with ADHD back in 2018. I met him at one of those early meetings and was so impressed with what he was doing (and how much it helped me) that I joined as a volunteer. Over the years Sandy has become one of my closest friends.

The past months have been a difficult time for all of us here at ADHD PEI, and our main focus has been on Sandy and his family. We appreciate your patience with some of the things within the organization that have not been maintained as we would usually like. If you have found errors on our website, or sent a message that hasn’t been responded to, please know that we will be addressing these things as soon as we are able.

One of Sandy’s concerns has been what would happen to ADHD PEI when he passed. I, along with our Board of Directors and volunteers, are dedicated to keeping this organization going. We will be meeting to discuss Sandy’s wishes and our community’s needs to determine the best way to continue forward.

In the meantime our ADHD PEI Facebook Support Group is thriving, and a wonderful place to meet other folks in the ADHD community on the island. Our support group meetings are on the usual summer hiatus, but there will be once a month in-person meetings in Summerside and Charlottetown, and online meetings will resume in September. Please check our schedule for details.

As always, ADHD PEI runs solely on donations. If you feel moved to donate, please know that all donations go toward keeping this organization in existence and continuing to build this community of support for those on PEI who have ADHD and their loved ones. Sandy wanted PEI to be a place where those with ADHD felt accepted and supported. He wanted us not just to survive, but to thrive with our neurodivergence. Your support helps us continue to work toward that goal.

Thank you,

~ Pam Boutilier
